I chose a mind map as a way to navigate my website because mind maps resemble patterns that often occur in nature, and resemble our brain - a network of interconnected information nodes. Some years ago I interviewed for a job in London, England. During the 90 minute interview, the interviewer took notes on one piece of paper with my name at the center. It was a mind map with numerous interconnecting branches that captured in short phrases placed on topic branches, everything about me. She said she would be able to reconstruct the entire interview from that one page.
After that, I began using mind maps myself, and could confirm her claim. Proponents say that our brain organizes information this way, so why not do what is natural to our thinking.
So here I am again at the center of a mind map. Besides being a website navigation tool, a mind map describes me a bit. You'll discover why, once you step inside.
